Pop Love Goes Wrong

Everyone knew the famous longterm relationship between N'Sync singer, Justin Timberlake and pop princess, Britney Spears. The pop star couple had first meet when they were only ten years old on the Mickey Mouse Club and had instant chemistry. In the year 2002, the sensational couple had been dating for two years until a scandal hit the news. 

Rumors circulated that Britney Spears allegedly chided on Justin with her choreographer, Wade Robson. After Justin Timberlake put out his new single and music video "Cry Me s River" it was then obvious that the rumors were true. "Cry Me a River" had the lyrics that stated, "You don't have to say what you did. I already know. I found out from him." In the music video, shown is a Britney Spears look-a-like that is unfaithful to Timberlake. Spears fans were critical to Timberlake's lyrics and video, he looked immature and cruel. However, Timberlake fans immediately were behind Justin as they thought Britney was too promiscuous and a "whore". 

Justin Timberlake proceeded with his way of PR by being very emotional and saying that Spears had done something very bad and broke his heart. Justin also tried making several personal appearances with new girlfriend, Cameron Diaz to get back at Spears. Britney took the simple route of PR and never admitted to infidelity. She also melted down in a Diane Sawyer Interview about the whole situation but was very respectful towards Timberlake, not insulting him for doing the video about her. I think what was interesting about this celebrity scandal was that both Timberlake and Spears didn't influence their choices much with public relations but more with their actual feelings and revenge.

The Kobe Bryant Scandal

         2003 was a resentful year for the famous shooting guard, Kobe Bryant, of the LA Lakers. His flawless reputation took a complete turn when a nineteen year old hotel employee in Eagle, Colorado accused Bryant of sexually assaulting her. These charges against Kobe were finally dropped but the basketball star still had a lot to sort out to the public and his wife, Vanessa Laine.

          Rumors had started that Vanessa was furious with her husband and Bryant's sponsors were even staring to reject him. Kobe knew he had to do something to get his life back to normal again, so he used his PR team to help him rise to the top once again. In the trial, he admitted to marital infidelity but denied that he had anything to do with sexual assault. He made it up to his lovely wife by purchasing four-million dollars worth of diamonds.

         To the rest of the world, Kobe also made a public apology for his faulty actions and it seemed to make a huge difference. His fans were very lenient on him as well as he continued to tear up the basketball court. The dedication of this athlete on and off the court was very inspiring to everyone, considering what just happened to Kobe. Everyone began to respect him once again and today he is still on of the most valuable players in the NBA. To this day Kobe has proved himself and claims that the whole ordeal taught him an important lesson in life.

          As he states, "This feeling, this dark time is just never going to be over. Once you go through something like that, you can’t help but be different. You can’t help but have a better sense of who you are. As a person it just really teaches you how to let go and how to trust and not try to control everything." Go Lakers!

Hugh Grant Engaging in Lewd Conduct in Public

Hugh Grant is a famous actor that is known for his attractive accent and charming smile. However, in 1995 the innocent Hugh Grant was arrested. Arrested for what you might ask? For engaging in "lewd conduct in public" with a prostitute. The news was all over the internet and on every magazine cover known to man. All of his fans, mostly women, were repelled for such a distasteful act. Grant and his publicist had to act fast in order to make this star get into the spotlight once more and get more acting jobs.

Hugh responded to the public with a novel PR approach, that I myself would of suggested. Following his little stunt, he apologized immediately on several shows such as "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, "The Tonight's Show with Jay Leno" and "Larry King Live". Articles in magazines complimented Hugh Grant for not refusing interviews or canceling appearances. Even though Hugh simply just stated "I'm very sorry," it went a long way with his fans and the media. Thank goodness for him, I am sure that his accent did much of the work, following with that dazzling smile of his. The public forgave him instantly and he developed his acting into even a better career. To this day, barely no one mentions Hugh Grant's scandal anymore because the public loves when celebrities apologize for what they did.

Britney Spears' Meltdown

Sixteen year old Britney Spears was the talk of the nation, not only was she known for being a pop princess and sex icon, but for her personal life as well. Each year, she became more famous and learned the consequences for her popular effect on the media. She engaged in several scandals after the year of 2004. Spears married Jason Alexander in Las Vegas for only fifty-five hours after the marriage was finally annulled. Following that year, Britney was then engaged to Kevin Federline. They stayed married four two years and the couple had two children, Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline. After the divorce, Spears just went downhill from there. Her family forced her into rehab but two days later she went back home and shaved her whole entire head. The picture of Britney Spears with her head shaved spiraled the media. She also lost full custody of her two boys, was in a hit-and-run, and rumors spread that she suffered from drug and alcohol abuse. After her whole entire PR team turned against her or was fired, she had to do her own work. Most of her actions were not influenced by her public relations team at all, just by her and her family.

          Spears announced to the public that her life was getting under control. In my opinion she did an excellent of showing so since she made a dramatic comeback. She made several great picture perfect PR moves in getting back to the top. Everyone could see that her life was getting back together by the actions she was making. Her father took over as conservator and she had a thought out plan to get her precious sons back in her right as she got granted rights to see them.  She also got back into taking her career seriously as she continued with hard rehearsals, new music videos and was making a new album. She also apologized to the public and went out on several public appearances gaining back her fans. These steps made Britney Spears be named best comeback for our generation.

Kristen Stewart's Cheating!

This year Kristen Stewart was caught in the act of cheating on her boyfriend of three years, Robert Pattinson. Who did she cheat on him with? While filming Snow White and the Huntsman she had rather a "too close" relationship with her director, Rupert Sanders. When reporters got shots of Kristen and Rupert lip locked, it broke the hearts of Twilight fans everywhere. Since Robert and Kristen both start as the main characters of Twilight no one thought it would ever be the same and this is why it caused such a huge scandal.

Stewart held her PR work by admitting that she had cheated on Robert and continued with an apology. On July 25, 2012 she stated, "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry." She used an emotional appeal in her statement that made her seem completely devastated for doing something so wrong to the love of her life. Even though most of the teenage Robert Pattinson fans didn't take her apology well, he seemed to fall for it since they are still together. I think that she did a good job of coming out to the public so fast to apologize but her social media needed work since twitter was bashing the 22 year old actress.

Vanessa Hudgen's and her Photos

In the year 2009, Vanessa Hudgens reputation as an innocent teen Disney actress started to crumble when naked photo's of an 18 year old Vanessa came online to the public eye. The High School Musical star's pure image came into jeopardy however she did an amazing job apologizing to the public about her past actions. Then to make things even worst, four years later the 22 year old Hudgens at the time had more nude photos of her released that rapidly spread around the Internet. She had to make another statement and this time she addressed her second scandal in an interview with the LA Times.

She explained to society that the whole ordeal was just something silly because she is a good person and her scandalous photos are all in the past. Vanessa also continued in her PR work by stating, "The fact that somebody keeps bringing up the past is just selfish. I mean, it sucks. I already released a statement the first time it happened. It's just unfortunate that it keeps reminding people about the past and not the present." She keeps telling her audience that she is gonna keep strong, because times get tough. Vanessa also explains that she is doing everything now possible to control her future. I believe that she did an amazing job handling this scandal, even though it happened to her twice. If she didn't come out to the public and not apologize, I would of never approved of her lifestyle choices or looked up to her as a famous actress.

Charlie Sheen Goes to Rehab

The man in the show "Two and a Half Men", Charlie Sheen had no choice but to enter rehab last January because of his drug use. Obviously, "Two and a Half Men" had to have a break since their lead character was away. The following month, Charlie Sheen rudely bashed Chuck Lorre, who created the show on a radio interview. Because of Sheen's actions the show was then canceled off the CBS channel. Sheen then threatened to sue CBS because they went against his contract and then began to do everything in his power to embarrass Chuck Lorre. The most bold statement he gave about the matter was on ABC News with Andrea Canning. Eventually CBS gave the new lead role in the show to Ashton Kutcher and this is when the madness began to stop.                  Sheen's PR did nothing about the situation because he repetitively stated that he did not care he was creating a scandal in the media. "Celebrities lose it every year, but seldom do they lose it to the extent that Charlie Sheen lost it," Brett Erlich stated. Sheen continued to call his actions "winning" and contused to taunt Chuck over and over again. His PR team should of stopped Charlie from doing so, however he is known for his "bad" reputation and infamous qualities.
